Monday Evening Check-In

I changed it up a bit!

Obsessing Over: This last six weeks of school, I couldn’t be more ready.  My kids stay with me for three years, everyone else gets new kids every year. I’m ready for some fresh faces to say the least.

Working on: The yard; trimming, planting, pulling, cleaning, mowing…ya know, getting it ready for summer fun!

Thinking about: How beautiful the weather has been lately

Anticipating: Again, summer!

Drinking: Eco-drink, its a vitamin powder you mix with water that I was suckered in to buying at Costco this weekend.  Am I the only person like this…I feel so guilty if I take a sample and the distributer goes on and on about it, I feel like I have to buy it.  Luckily, I really did like this drink!

My loving grandpa passed away last Wednesday and we had his funeral on Friday.  I miss him so much, but mostly feel bad for my mom and her sisters.  They lost their mom in November, and now their dad.  I’m so happy that I always made time to visit and call, and that we spent time with him in his last days and hours even.  We will miss you gramps!

Last weekend I had some quality best friend time with my BFF, Nicole.  It was great…mani/pedis, sushi and hours of good conversation.  We just click.

This year we spent Easter with just the three of us.  Sometimes its hard to coordinate plans that work for everyone in our big families, so we decided to just play it low-key and stay home.

The weather was PERFECT so we spent most of the day outside. We started the day with an early morning egg hunt for Sam, then did some yard and pool work, took a long walk and then worked out.  Then we totally ate back all of the calories we burned with a scallop and wine dinner.

I thought a lot about our families today…just how lucky we are to both have such loving and generous people in our lives.  The rest of our weekend was spent at Sam’s soccer game, my brother’s soccer game, dyeing eggs and hanging out with my grandparents (they came to visit from Big Spring). The weekend was bittersweet too, last week my grandpa (I know, I have a lot of grandparents!) was transferred to hospice and I spent some time visiting with him.  I know he is ready to go and be reunited with my grandma, he just has not been the same since she passed in November.   I will miss him dearly, but I hope he finds peace quickly.

Anyway, I hope each of you had a great Easter doing exactly what you wanted to do.
